TVA What do you know about the Tennessee Valley Authority? After the Great Depression, some states needed help to modernize their economies. The TVA, or Tennessee Valley Authority, set out to help the area around the Tennessee River. As a part of Roosevelt’s New Deal, the TVA helped people get electricity and learn new, improved ways of farming. The TVA introduced the idea of hydroelectricity to seven different states in the 1930’s. They built dams and provided work for many people. They also taught the farmers about crop rotation to help them make the most out of their land. The TVA wanted to help the environment. They replanted many forests that had been burned down and tried to improve habitats for animals and other wildlife. © Copyright NewPath Learning. All Rights Reserved. Today the TVA still supplies this area with electricity. It has had a great impact on the Tennessee Valley and the United States. The U.S. has even used the ideas and methods of the TVA to help develop third world countries. © Copyright NewPath Learning. All Rights Reserved.
