SOUTHEASTERN REGION OF THE USA The Southeastern Region of the United States of America The twelve states in the Southeastern Region are Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Louisiana. The region is known for its many rivers, a majority of which start in the Appalachian Mountains. The growing season in the Southeastern Region is longer than in the Northeastern Region. Other Interesting Information: Mammoth Cave National Park is a national park in Kentucky. The Peach State is Georgia. Because of its location near the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico, parts of this region experience powerful storms with high winds and heavy rain called hurricanes.
