PLANTS Plants are living things. What are the Parts of a Plant? Let’s go from the bottom to the top. ROOTS  The roots help keep the plant in the soil so it doesn’t blow away in the wind.  The roots also take in water and other important things from the soil that the plant needs to grow strong. THE FLOWER  The flower makes seeds so that the flower can make new flowers.  Flowers come in different colors, shapes, and sizes. Tell Me More About How Flowers Make NEW Flowers:  Yellow, sticky pollen on a flower needs to be moved from one flower to another flower so that flower can make seeds to grow new plants.  Bees help move pollen from one flower to another. Pretty colored petals help attract bees to a flower.  Every seed is a tiny plant with leaves, stems, and root parts waiting for the right things to happen to make it germinate and grow.  The fruit that grows on plants has seeds inside them! A Plant’s Life Cycle  A plant's life cycle is how long a plant lives or how long it takes to grow, flower, and make seeds.  All plants need water, air, and warm temperatures to grow.
