TAKING
CARE
OF
THE
EARTH
How
Can
People
Protect
the
Earth?
We
can
use
our
resources
wisely.
That
means
we
must
use
all
resources
carefully
and
not
waste
them.
Conserving
means
to
use
something
wisely.
We
need
to
conserve
our
natural
resources.
What
are
Some
Ways
We
Can
Help
Save
Natural
Resources?
1.
Do
not
waste
water.
What
are
some
ways
we
can
save
water?
We
can
turn
off
the
water
while
we
brush
our
teeth.
We
can
take
shorter
showers.
We
can
use
less
water
when
taking
baths.

2.
Do
not
waste
electricity.
What
are
some
ways
we
can
save
electricity?
Turn
out
the
lights
when
you
leave
a
room.
Turn
off
TV
when
not
watching
it.
Use
sunlight
instead
of
lights
in
a
room.
3.
Do
not
litter
–
throw
trash
away
in
a
trash
can,
not
on
the
ground!
4.
Do
not
put
bad
things
in
water.
Bad
things
can
pollute
water.
Pollute
means
to
make
unclean.
Pollution
can
kill
animals
that
live
in
the
water
or
drink
the
water.

Remember
the
three
R’s:
Reduce,
Reuse,
and
Recycle
REDUCE
We
can
reduce
the
things
we
use
–
that
means
to
use
less!
Examples:
We
can
try
to
use
fewer
napkins
or
we
can
use
cloth
napkins
that
we
can
wash
instead.
We
can
use
fewer
tissues
and
less
toilet
paper.
We
can
use
glass
plates
and
cups
instead
of
paper
ones.
These
steps
would
reduce
the
amount
of
trash
we
throw
away.
REUSE
We
can
reuse,
that
means
to
use
something
again.
Examples:
Instead
of
throwing
something
away,
we
can
reuse
it
for
something
else.
Example:
we
can
wash
out
a
water
bottle
and
use
it
more
than
once.
Instead
of
throwing
trash
away,
we
can
reuse
it
for
something
else.
Example:
we
can
reuse
an
empty
jar
of
jam
to
store
other
food
in
the
fridge.

RECYCLE
Recycle
means
to
make
old
things
into
new
things
we
can
use.
What
can
we
recycle?
1.
glass
(glass
jars)
2.
plastic
(plastic
water
bottles)
3.
metal
(cans)
4.
paper
(newspaper)
Make
sure
you
put
all
these
things
in
a
recycle
bin,
not
a
trash
can.
You
can
see
if
something
can
be
recycled
by
looking
for
a
recycle
sign.
A
recycle
sign
looks
like
