COMPARE WHOLE NUMBERS, FRACTIONS, AND DECIMALS What Is Comparing Whole numbers, Fractions, and Decimals? Comparing whole numbers, fractions, and decimals means looking at the values of two numbers and deciding if they are greater than, less than, or equal to each other. Two symbols are used in comparing decimals: < (less than) and > (greater than). How to compare whole numbers, fractions, and decimals: First, convert the numbers to either fractions or decimals depending on what you are comparing. Then compare as you normally would. Compare the values to determine if they are greater than, less than, or equal to. Example: 0.67 < 68 Think: 68/100 is = 0.68, 0.68 is greater than 0.67 100 Try This! < (less than) or > (greater than). 15 __ 0.14 100 0.7 __ 3 10 0.90 _ 90 100 © Copyright NewPath Learning.
