Measuring WEIGHT Ounce: An ounce is a unit of measurement used to measure the weight of an object. 5 nickels weigh about 1 ounce. Pound: 1 pound = 16 ounces Kilogram: 1 kilogram = a little over 2 pounds All of the units of measurement listed above are STANDARD units of measurement, meaning they are measurements that are accurate no matter who is doing the measuring. Non Standard Units of Measurement NON standard units of measurement are objects (or body parts) that you can use to measure the length another object. Using non standard units of measurement is not totally accurate. You should NOT use non standard units of measurement when you need an EXACT measurement of an object. Non standard units of measurement can be used when you just need a general idea of about the measurement of length of a certain object.
