UNITS OF MEASURE What Are Units of Measurement? People measure mass, volume, and length. These measurements are labeled with the appropriate unit of measurement. How to use units of measurement: 1. Weight or mass is the amount of heaviness of an object Ounces to measure small objects such as letters and potato chips Pounds to measure standard objects such as potatoes and people Tons to measure large objects such as cars 2. Capacity is the amount of liquid an object can hold Cup is used to measure small amounts o Pint = 2 cups o Quart = 2 pints o Gallon = 4 quarts 3.
