SYMMETRY Symmetry is an exact matching of two parts along a fold line. How to find symmetry: A shape that can be folded to make equal parts is a symmetrical figure. Symmetrical patterns are the same size and shape on both sides. You can find a line of symmetry where the object can be folded to get equal parts. Figures can have more than one line of symmetry. A butterfly is symmetrical. You can make a symmetrical figure. 1. Fold a piece of paper in half. 2. Cut a design on the fold. 3. Open the paper. 4. The resulting design is symmetrical. Both sides are the same size and shape. © Copyright NewPath Learning. All Rights Reserved. Permission is granted for the purchaser to print copies for non-commercial educational purposes only.
