Numbers, such as 2,754, have four digits. Each digit is a different place value. The first digit is called the thousands' place. It tells you how many sets of one thousand are in the number. The number 2,754 has two thousands. The second digit is called the hundreds' place. It tells you how many sets of one hundred are in the number. The number 2,754 has seven hundreds. The third digit is the tens' place. It tells you that there are 5 tens in this number. The last or right digit is the ones' place. The 4 is in the one’s place in 2,784.
