SENTENCES What is a Sentence? A sentence is a group of words that expresses a complete thought. A sentence must contain a subject and a predicate. An incomplete sentence is known as a sentence fragment. Two or more sentences written together are known as a run- on sentence. Examples: Complete Sentences: Scott and Laura went ice-skating at the new skating rink. After the soccer game, we went out for ice cream. Sentence Fragments: swimming in the ocean better attention in class Run-on Sentences: We picked strawberries we made a pie that everyone ate.
