MAKING PREDICTIONS What is a Prediction? A prediction is an educated guess about what is going to happen NEXT in the story. When making a prediction: Use hints and clues the author includes in the story Ask yourself: Does my prediction make sense? Example: Francine finished her letter. She wanted to get the letter to her friend as soon as possible. She asked her mom for an envelope and put the folded letter inside. After she addressed the envelope, she placed the stamp in the appropriate place. She then grabbed her coat and headed outside with her letter. What can we predict will happen next? We can predict that Francine will go to a post office or a mailbox and mail her letter. © Copyright NewPath Learning. All Rights Reserved.
